Kaitlyn Campbell (1995 - 2022)
It is with deepest sympathy that the IAPF shares this message with its members. Many who attended the 2022 International Hoof-Care Summit will remember this young lady who drove by herself from Havana, Florida to Cincinnati to attend a farrier education event we all know as the "Summit". She stopped along the way and slept in her car. When she arrived in Cincinnati, she met a few very kind and supportive farriers, including our own Dave Farley CF APF-I. She met up with Taylor Brandon APF, who was the recipient of the 2022 Roy Bloom Scholarship. Taylor had an extra bed in her room and offered it to Kaitlyn. After the Summit, where she gained so much knowledge about her new chosen profession, she was able to spend time with Dave and Karen Farley. She had planned to visit with them again after Christmas this year. At the Summit she was able to become a member of the IAPF.
From Dave Farley: "It is with a heavy heart I post this information. I consider myself fortunate to be a mentor to many young and upcoming farriers. I met Kaitlyn last year at the International Hoof-Care Summit in Cincinnati. Soon after she visited us, stayed at our home and spent time shoeing. She was so determined to learn as much as possible and reach her goal of becoming a successful farrier. Sadly she was involved in a car accident and passed shortly after. We are a close profession of like minded individuals so I’m asking you to consider her husband and two small babies that will spend the rest of their lives without their mother. Thank you."
A GoFundMe page has been established. It was originally set up to offset medical expenses, now it is for her funeral expenses. Here's a link to that page: https://gofund.me/e187783e
A number of IAPF members have already contributed to this fund. During this Christmas season we hope that other IAPF members will donate and share this message with others in the farrier world.
Please keep Kaitlyn, her husband Nicholas Campbell, her two young children and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers.
