OVERWHELMING!
Other than being speechless with the reception and response the AAPF experienced when arriving at the 2013 International Hoof-care Summit, overwhelming is the only way to describe it!
The event in and of itself is a phenomenal learning opportunity to anyone who attends. We all knew this and expected nothing less.
When it came to the Market Place, especially where the AAPF booth was located, it was much like a 3 ring circus. So many things happening you could not take it all in!
We were thankful for the draw that the Flatland Forge hammer created with all new members’ names being thrown into a hat and the winner’s name being drawn at the last minute of the Market Place. Congratulations go out to RT Goodrich! Welcome aboard man.
We had a Bob Pethick hoof knife raffled off, raising monies for the new AAPF/CAPF Farrier Assistance fund.
Without a doubt the enthusiasm felt by those inquiring as to where we are going, to those who walked up and simply said “sign me up“ it was just remarkable.
On the second night of the Summit we conducted our first general membership meeting of the organization. We had asked for 150 chairs in the room and ended up with standing room only and not much of that left! During the meeting all our committee chairs presented information about their committee’s activities - what they have done and where they are going. A power point presentation was used with bullet points on each committee’s presentation along with a question and answer session after each chairman’s report. One of the most inspiring things I encountered was when members talked with me and they didn’t ask “so what do I get out of joining“ but rather their comments were “what can I do to help”. I said to myself YES!
After signing up another 50 plus members, who are motivated and ready help, I am more convinced than ever that the AAPF will soon be viral!
