The American & Canadian Associations of Professional Farriers are trade associations for farriers and veterinarians interested in equine podiatry. We also encourage suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers for the farrier industry to become members.
Our primary focus is Continuing Education for all professionals in our industry. We encourage professional farriers to attend clinics, seminars, contests, and other educational events to enhance their profession.
Through our Hoofcare Essentials® program we encourage horse owners to seek out professional farriers for your horses.
Evan Wright Mickle, 38, died on December 26, 2016. The son of Jay Mickle of Southern Pines, NC and Virginia Mickle of Flemington, NJ, he is survived by his wife Christina Bainbridge Mickle, a son Henry Cooper Mickle, age 4, and a daughter Holly Ida Mickle, age 1 of Pinebluff, NC.
Brenda G. Davis, 73 of Richwood, died peacefully Saturday morning, March 11, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born March 20, 1943 in Marion to the late Millard and Martha (Worthington) Bumgarner. On July 17, 1965 she married Jon Davis in the First Baptist Church, Richwood and he survives.
At the September 18, 2016 meeting of the AAPF/IAPF Board of Directors, a resolution was unanimously approved to support the position of the American Horse Council, as well as our Alliance Member - the American Saddlebred Horse Association - in relation to the proposal to amend the horse protection regulations.The full text of the letter submitted to APHIS can be found on the next page.
The American and International Associations of Professional Farriers (AAPF/IAPF) recently unveiled its credentialing program. The AAPF/IAPF's credentialing program is a two-step process - farrier foundation credential and discipline/specialty/breed credential.

As part of our 2016 Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors announced a new recognition for those members who have achieved Accreditation status (AF or APF) for three consecutive years. Recipients were prsented with a certificate suitable for framing along with with Bronze sticker recognizing their achievement.
